The Big One 2016
We didn't get much chance to do many charity rides this year, but there was no way everyone here at Bridgnorth Bikers was going to let the 'Big One' slide, so for 2016 it was back and bigger then ever!!
Supported by the groups many friend's this year's ride wasn't going to disappoint, and was going to exceed the already high bar of last year's ride (which we thought would be hard to top), around 300 people mostly on bikes but some in their cars, decided to join the group on its annual toy run to the Ronald McDonald house and Birmingham Children's Hospital. The pile of donations for this year greatly exceeded last year's pile and we were rapidly running out of room in both vans in which to put the donations into.
I think it was safe to say that everyone enjoyed the ride, and it truely was a pleasure to see the smiles on the childrens faces as riders of all different ages and styles of bikes turned up en mass, with an open top double decker bus in tow, to hand over the massive donation that everyone had contributed to.
There were a few reporters when we all turned at the final destination to see the good work that the biking community had accomplished, and to show that we don't deserve the bad reputation that we sometimes get, you can click on the link here to read one of those reports http://www.expressandstar.com/…/santa-gets-o…/bikes-2-sl-18/
On a last note we would like to thank the following people, group's and businesses, Streetbike Halesowen and their staff for letting us use their premises and van (amongst many things), without their help we would struggle to do such events as these, the Midland Freewheelers for supporting our group over the year's and aiding with our events, Michael Flett for providing and driving the open top double decker bus for us free of charge to carry those who don't or cannot ride, Suzuki UK for sending over BSB champion John Reynolds to join us on the ride, the A-Team van and finally a massive thankyou to the team of Steward's and the people who work behind the scene's to make event's such as this one possbile.
